If you have a 64-bit windows you can take advantage of it by running Minecraft in 64-bit just follow the instructions below, I am not sure if it boasts any performance at all.
Download 64-bit java and install it.

Download Minecraft.jar file and place it anywhere you wish.

or download it from http://www.minecraft.net it is under the Linux / Other section
Create a new windows shortcut to run minecraft or just copy and paste this "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xmx1024M -Xms512M -cp Minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame with the quotations in run to execute Minecraft and you can skip the following steps.
Set "Target" to "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xmx1024M -Xms512M -cp Minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame
Set "Start in" to be where the .jar file is. Example "C:\Minecraft"
Optional to set "Run" to Minimized
Optianal to "Change Icon" then browse and select minecraft.exe icon.
Optianal to increase memory usage for Minecraft change the first -Xms parameter to something higher.
Hey, I'm having a problem trying to play Minecraft. I've followed the steps to install the 64 Bit Java and every time I try to open Minecraft it freezes. If I try to update to 1.4.6 it says 'Fatal error occured (4): nul'. I also tried to put the Minecraft 1.4.5 jar file in the bin folder but again it crashes! My computer is a Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz 3.70 GHz. It's also a 64 Bit Operating system! What am I doing wrong?
ReplyDeleteThere could be many things wrong, the best way to solve your issue would be to rename or delete the Minecraft bin folder download and run the Minecraft Launcher let it download and update if that doesn't help rename or delete the main minecraft folder. You could also try and reinstall Java, also as stated in the tutorial running in 64-bit doesn't actually boost any performance at least that's what I have noticed best to let it run normally.

ReplyDeleteI am not sure how I can assist you more, I don't know what you did that has caused this issue, and what condition your pc is in now. Just try to undo what you did.
DeleteWell I got the new computer that I am on right now a week ago, and its brand new. I haven't messed with any of the .minecraft files. I just downloaded Java 64 Bit and Miinecraft and started up Minecraft and there were errors.....
DeleteGet rid of Java 64-bit by uninstalling it, then install the 32-bit version and try Minecraft in 32-bit. also get the latest version of Java.
